Relationship between menstrual disorders and Low Back pain among nurses in Kerman University of Medical Sciences Hospitals

  Background: Despite of the high prevalence of back pain among nurses factors affecting it are not yet well known. In recent years, studies have been conducted that show the relationship between back pain and menstrual disorders. To examine the relationship between menstrual disorders and back pain among nurses in teaching hospitals of Kerman University of Medical Sciences

  Materials and Methods: It was a cross sectional study. The study population was nurses at University Hospitals of Kerman Province. Sampling method was census. 250 nurses filled the questionnaire. Research tools included demographic questions, questions related to menstrual disorders and back pain questionnaire. The data was analyzed by SPSS and T-test and Chi Square test were used.

  Results: Although the group that had irregular menstrual cycles had a greater percentage of back pain, it was not significantly associated (p>0.05). The bleeding time was normal in those who had lower back pain but there was no significant difference (p>0.05).

  Conclusion: Despite of differences between the two groups but the difference was not inconsistent with the results of previous studies in this field.
